Sheldon Benjamin, MD
Dr. Benjamin is Professor of Psychiatry and Neurology, Director of Psychiatric Education and Training, Director of Neuropsychiatry, and Vice Chair for Education in Psychiatry at University of Massachusetts Medical School. As an ABPN Director, Dr. Benjamin serves on the Psychiatry Council, and as Vice Chair of the Research Award Committee. In addition, he serves on the committees for Alternative Pathways Oversight, Communications, and Credentials-Psychiatry, and is a liaison to the AACDP. He also serves on the Certification Examination and Continuing Certification Combined-Basic Neurology and Neuroscience Subcommittee. Dr. Benjamin is a past president of the ANPA and AADPRT, a Distinguished Life Fellow of the APA, and a fellow of ANPA and of the AAN. He serves as the AADPRT representative on the Governance Committee of the journal Academic Psychiatry and co-chairs the ANPA Training Taskforce. Dr. Benjamin is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, the Tufts-New England Medical Center Psychiatry Residency, the Boston University Neurology Residency, and the Boston VA Behavioral Neurology Fellowship Program. He is certified in both Psychiatry and Neurology by the ABPN and in Behavioral Neurology & Neuropsychiatry by the UCNS.
