Amy Brooks-Kayal, MD
Dr. Brooks-Kayal is Professor and Chair of Neurology, and the Andrew John Gabor, MD, PhD Presidential Endowed Chair at the University of California, Davis, School of Medicine in Sacramento, CA. Previously, she was Professor of Pediatrics and Neurology at University of Colorado School of Medicine, where she served as Chief and Ponzio Family Chair in Pediatric Neurology for 12 years. She was a principal investigator and co-director of the Translational Epilepsy Research Program at University of Colorado. As an ABPN Director, Dr. Brooks-Kayal serves on the Neurology Council and is Chair of the Continuing Certification Subspecialty Article Assessment-Epilepsy and Epilepsy Steering Committees. In addition, Dr. Brooks-Kayal serves on the Communications, Credentials-Neurology, Conflict of Interest, Strategic Planning, and Continuing Certification Committees and Reserves Use Subcommittee. She is also the liaison to the AANEM and the AES. She serves on the North American Commission of the ILAE and the Executive Committee of the NINDS Child Neurology Career Development K12 Program. She has held the positions of NINDS Advisory Council member, President of the American Epilepsy Society (AES), councilor of the Professors of Child Neurology (PCN), and executive councilor of the ANA. Dr. Brooks-Kayal is recognized as an international expert in the field of epilepsy and was the recipient of the 2019 AES Founders Award in recognition of a record of lifetime achievement in the field of epilepsy.
