Allison Brashear, MD, MBA
Dr. Brashear is Dean of the School of Medicine at the University of California, Davis in Sacramento, CA. Dr. Brashear is an internationally known researcher in movement disorders and oversees one of the nation’s top research, academic and medical training institutions, with more than 3,100 faculty and staff, 460 students, and 818 trainees in graduate medical education. She also oversees 25 departments and 15 centers. Previously, Dr. Brashear was the Walter C. Teagle Chair of the Department of Neurology and Neurology Professor for 14 years at Wake Forest School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, NC. As an ABPN Director, Dr. Brashear serves on the Executive Committee as Board Member-at-Large, the Neurology Council and as Chair of the Research and Development, Faculty Innovation in Education Award, and Strategic Planning Committees. She is also the Co-Chair of the Diversity Committee. Dr. Brashear is Vice Chair of the Certification Examination and Continuing Certification Combined Committee-Neurology and the Certification Examination and Continuing Certification Combined-Clinical Neurology Subcommittee. In addition, she serves on committees for Bylaws, Finance, Investment, Review Appeals-Neurology, Irregular Behavior and Continuing Certification. She is also the ABPN liaison to LCNS, AUPN and ANA. Dr. Brashear is a trustee of the McKnight Brain Research Foundation and has served on the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) Board of Directors, the American Neurological Association Board of Directors, and the Association of University Professors of Neurology Board of Directors. Dr. Brashear is a graduate of Indiana University School of Medicine and Duke University School of Business. She trained in Neurology at IU School of Medicine where she was a professor before joining Wake Forest as the Department of Neurology Chair.
