Setting the highest certification standards for psychiatrists and neurologists since 1934

Next Steps

Thank you for participating in the Part III Pilot Project. We hope you have found the Pilot meaningful and relevant to your practice. Below is additional information on what to expect next:

  • Pilot applications and payments are due September 1st of the year of your completion deadline. The ABPN will email you once the applications become available and prior to the deadline.  See the ‘Part III Pilot’ section in your ABPN Physician Portal account for your application deadline.
  • Diplomates who participate in the Pilot for two exams will receive the Combined MOC exam cost discount. Such diplomates will pay the full exam fee of $1400 on the first application, and $975 for the subsequent application.
  • The final scoring of your exams will take place after December 15th of the year of your completion deadline.  See the ‘Part III Pilot’ section in your ABPN Physician Portal account for your exam completion deadline.
  • Official certificates will be mailed within 12 weeks of the final scoring.
  • Passing the Pilot will count for a waiver of 16 Self-Assessment (SA) CME credits towards the 24 SA credits needed for your current block of requirements. View the information regarding the non-CME Self-Assessment credit waiver on this website.

If the Pilot becomes a permanent option in 2022, diplomates who continue with the journal article-based assessment option will be expected to read a set number of articles every three years on an ongoing basis. Please see question #10 in the MOC Part III Pilot Project FAQ document for more information.
